This ride is just some personal goals. Every year SCMA (Southern California Motorcycle Association) offers up rides that you may want to do during a calendar year. In 2021 we did USA Four Corners Tour with Dean Tanji and his brother Gary
This year Rick and I decided to try and complete three of SCMA rides that interested us.
And since we were at it, we threw in the annual Sturgis Rally.
Rides #1,2 and 3 require us to do some documentation for proof of completing (photos/gas receipts). Rides #1 and #2 you can do within the calendar year at your own pace. Ride #3 is over 4 days during Labor Day weekend with checkpoints that open and close during certain times. Sturgis is during the beginning of August.
So first step was to map out the rides and then determine how to tackle them. Below is a map I created in google maps.

The prominent east coast ride you see up in northern New England and Canada is Great Lakes Cabot Trail. The other prominent ride from Mexico to Canada is the Three Flags Classic. All others are the 20 roads to select for the Best 15 US Roads Challenge. In the southeast, the prominent ride is the full length of the Blue Ridge Highway, which you only need to do any 150 miles of it for the 15 Roads ride (but must do, then you can select any of the other 19 rides for your remaining 14 rides). We decided to ride all 500ish miles of it. We also decided we will try to do all 20 Roads of the 15 Roads.
Another item to work in is Rick has a concert in Vegas in the middle of June. So we are going to break this up into 2 phases, leaving in mid May doing some of the 15 roads in Texas, Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California and returning home. Then I’ll meet Rick in Las Vegas and take off from their to head east and grab the east coast 15 roads, the Blue Ridge Highway and plan on starting the Cabot Trail tour by beginning of July.
By the later part of July we should be in Mackinac City Michigan and we can head down to my sisters place to take a small break, service bikes, and clean up before heading west to grab some more of the 15 roads in the mid-west on our way to Sturgis. Sturgis we will be there for a few days, then grab a few more of the 15 roads while heading home by middle of August.
Then it should be another time to regroup at home before heading to Mexico to do the Three Flags Classic over Labor Day weekend. On our way home from Three Flags we will hit some of the 15 roads in the northwest.
